baby you're a rich man....

yippeeee! Ding dong the house is gone! After months of waiting, surveys, solicitors letters and paperwork, the house is finally nothing to do with us! Everything exchanged on Friday and a nice fat cheque was received on Saturday :) It really does feel like a huge relief!
The week has been spent ferrying back and forth between the old house and my mums (m@) trying to get all the last bits sorted and moved. Everything was sold in the end and the house looked pretty good when we left it.... certainly better than the day we first got there... we both just looked at each other and said 'What have we done!'

We nipped to Auntie Saggy's on Friday to see little Beth and check that Jet was doing OK... and of course she was... sleeping away on the sofa and acting like she owned the place! Beth was soooo cute too!

Mum and Al have gone on hol to Crete for a week so we chilled out with a bottle of wine and some nice food... and of course the football.
And then on Saturday, we headed into Crewe to pay our cheque in and look for flights.... how crap are travel agents! It was seriously a case of 'computer says no...' rubbish!
So, we headed home, got on t'interweb (well, Trace did, Germany were playing Sweden you see 2-0... the Germans look scary... I digress...), and booked everything ourselves (flights and insurance). Got a smart price and we are now all set for heading out on August 5th!

Today is Sunday and England are playing Equador in the second round of the World Cup... it's a match we should win, but we haven't looked pariculalrly convincing so far... so who knows... Anyhoo, we have aranged a BBQ for the match so i'd best go and wake the Bulk so we can go shopping for the bits we need.... COME ON ENGLAND!

what's new pussy cat?

This weekend was a biggy as we finally moved out of our house and into Matt’s Mum & Al’s. Although this is good news because it means we’re getting closer to our goal of travelling, it was also really sad because we had to leave Jet…

We took her to Sal’s on Saturday and we were really quite upset – this was for purely selfish reasons of missing her of course because she was absolutely fine and settled in almost straight away.

Sal said she had a bit of a shock when Beth came home from her grandparent’s and wanted to play, but luckily Jet’s used to this from Matt and knew to run and hide far away… or at least under the sofa!

We’re also a little bit sad over leaving the house. It’s strange because we’ve moved a lot over the last 6 years and it was always the plan to renovate this house and sell it as quickly as possible, but with all the blood, sweat and tears put in to it over the past 18 months it actually feels like a bit of a wrench.

Just to mention also that it wasn’t always our own blood, sweat and tears either – we’d never have been able to do it without the help of both our families who have all been absolutely amazing and given up their weekends to help us strip, clean, wallpaper etc without ever giving it a second thought so Thank You!!

Just before I go, Matt got his full visa through last week which is ace news and means we can book the flights this weekend...

monkey business

OK, so this is my first ‘blog’ - Matt’s done all the work so far so I thought I’d better chip in.

Here goes…

First things first - Our BBH cards came this weekend along with Matt’s form for his visa which was all very exciting – that is until he realised how big the form was!

Saturday afternoon was spent getting a beer garden tan at the Barbridge before going in to watch the England game. Can I just say - how cute is Crouch!! Is it just me or does anyone else agree? I know, I know Matt you rated him from the beginning (for his football skills of course) and ‘in your face glovesy’ for thinking he was a waste of space (yes I was listening on Saturday and no I still don’t understand how all the leagues and tables work).

Because we’re off in just under two months we’re trying to spend as much time with our family as possible, so on Sunday we took my nephew Jake (Jason’s little boy) to the new monkey forest at Trentham. If you haven’t already been it’s definitely worth a visit. Jake seemed to enjoy himself anyway as you can see from the photies…

Next week it’s Jack and Angel's turn, we’re not sure where to take them yet though….

We’ll hopefully have a date to move house by the end of this week too.
